For a variety of reasons, the 72nd Annual Emmy Awards were unforgettable. The show was also complete with a momentous win or two, in addition to its virtual model, including that of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, which Zendaya won. The Euphoria star was the youngest actor to win in the category at 24 years of age. And while this is important in itself, for the weeks to come, Zendaya ‘s two Emmy gowns have left viewers much to speak about.
At the start of the show, the actress wore a ready-to-wear set of Christopher John Rogers’ Fall 2020 color-blocked moire and taffeta gown. With a BVLGARI High Jewelry necklace in white gold with amethysts, rubellites, emeralds and pavé-set diamonds, Zendaya complemented the jewel-toned outfit. On her feet, she wore Christian Louboutin’s crystal-embellished heart pumps. As she performed her presenting duties at Los Angeles’ Staples Center, the vibrant look helped her kick off the show right away.
Zendaya transformed into a Giorgio Armani Prive two-piece gown for her ground-breaking victory (which she embraced with friends and family at home), which featured a studded bralette top and full princess skirt set against a vivid polka dot pattern. In order to juxtapose the current silhouette, the actress opted for a retro beauty look, piling her hair high in a perfectly undone updo á la Brigitte Bardot with winged eyeliner and nude lips. “And I just want to say to all my peers out there doing the work in the streets, I see you, I admire you, I thank you, and yeah, thank you so, so much!”
Zendaya turned to her long-time stylist and “image architect” Law Roach for her Emmy looks, who during the evening kept fans updated on the actor’s outfits. “She’s a WINNER baby…….”, the stylist wrote in his post featuring the star in her custom Armani gown. She’s a winner indeed. Zendaya is one to watch for years to come, if the Emmys are any indication.
