If you’re lucky enough to have a whole space for your home office, you know there are a lot of choices when it comes to desks. The corner edition is available; the built-in one; the desk facing the chairs; and the desk facing the window or wall. But what you might not have considered, yet, is casting aside all those ideas and going big to Karlie Kloss, whose dining-table-as-desk idea is as clever as it is unlikely.
Like several celebrities, the model and Kode With Klossy creator gave fans a glimpse of her house via Instagram while stuck at home during the pandemic, and thankfully for all those in search of office inspiration, she posted a snapshot of her own on Sept. 14.
Although the overall architecture of her office is worth copying on its own, it is her choice of desk that is most notable. Instead of being pressed up against a wall, the 28-year-old opted for a huge dining table that would take up much of the house, giving her plenty of space to stretch out and focus on her several projects without leaving the room.
And even though you may be panicking about the lack of storage that a dining table might offer, Kloss has a remedy for that, too, in the form of tiled baskets put under a piece that play wonderfully against a rustic tile floor. In other words, if you have space, there is no excuse not to pursue this unorthodox arrangement.
And if you don’t, there are a lot of other takeaways out of the cozy room of the model. In comparison to the airy Kode With Klossy offices, Kloss opted for a darker color scheme at home, producing a monochrome effect with carbon gray walls, cabinets, and furniture in different textures that felt both sleek and serene.
The model also featured a great deal of juxtaposition with organic textures and modern forms, expertly offering some surprising contrast that ensures a sophisticated yet comfortable environment.
If you’re now itching to replace your own desk, or only wanting to replicate a few facets of Kloss’ home office, keep scrolling around for a few bits to help you get underway.
