Obviously, J.Lo is a symbol of beauty and elegance. Yet when it comes to holiday looks, she’s both an idol and a wealth of inspiration. So far she’s offered up some of the best manicures and blowouts to inspire your winter beauty selections, and now she’s back with a copyable look for every festive event. Interpreting Jennifer Lopez’s smoky eye on your own lids will be a guaranteed holiday favorite, particularly if you’re one to shy away from glitter.
The look that was shared with fans on Nov. 11 has a lot of stylish edge to appease your hankering for a holiday look that’s sharp and edgy without asking you to glitter your lids. Celebrity makeup artist Mary Phillips mixed a combination of dark browns, blacks and purples with an extremely dramatic finish, completing it with a black eyeliner on her waterline and a few coats of voluminous mascara.
Although Lopez’s eyes were the highlight, the rest of her look still deserves a shout. Phillips had picked a pink shimmer to coat her lips and filled her eyebrows to make the appearance very bold. She contoured her cheekbones, too to keep things sharp.
And in true J.Lo fashion, the hair part was something to rave about too. Framing her slim makeup, Chris Appleton, a renowned hair stylist, opted for two stylish, gently swept hair pieces. He crowned the top of her head with chic ’90s space buns, wrapping the base with a hair lock for a tidy finish.
Although youthful and enjoyable, the look is also shockingly fresh, particularly given that Lopez has mastered countless smoky-eye ideas. In October 2020, Phillips produced a blue-toned version for her; before that a gray-based look for a music video launch in September, and a chocolate brown version in August—and that’s just a tiny sampling.
What makes this look especially nice for the coming winter and holiday activities is its hue. The black-violet combination is a welcome break from the browns and taupes that reign supreme in the autumn. Deep purples and mauves are also the favorites for cooler months for lips and nails, so why don’t you apply it to your lids?
