There’s lingerie before Savage X Fenty, as far as anyone’s concerned, and lingerie after it. Things have never been the same since Rihanna ‘s namesake label first enraptured the industry in 2017. Its iconic shows have become the fashion season’s most highly awaited affairs, and the new is something to shout about. “Technically it’s a fashion show, but Rihanna doesn’t do anything that’s already out there,” Jennifer Rosales Davis said last fall, for Vol. 1. The Savage X Fenty Show Vol. This period, with a whole host of old faces (Bella Hadid, Cara Delevingne) and new ones (Rosalia, Demi Moore). 2 is once again underpinned by confidence, energy and power.
Like the first, with a renewed emphasis on the craftsmanship of each garment, this episode (or ‘volume’) moves through weeks of preparing, designing and choreographing that went into the show. About the finished product? All rolled into a one-hour performance, a completely realized fashion show, concert, art project and protest of sorts. In addition to the musical talents (Ella Mai, Travis Scott, Rosalia), the model cast included a vast network of influential people (for example, Paris Hilton, Paloma Elsesser, and Irina Shayk), all of whom were boldly wearing the fall 2020 styles of Savage X Fenty.
Each piece boasts bold, but wearable materials and colors, as emphasized through the design process , enabling the wearer to be their most genuine, unregulated selves. Latex gloves, floral balconette bras, and full-body mesh stockings were mixed together onstage. You’re in luck for those shopping for the exhibition, the entire lingerie range can be purchased on Amazon, although sizes are rapidly disappearing.
Sizes range from an XS (0-2) to a 3X (20-22), with ‘average’ and ‘curvy’ fit options, as part of Savage x Fenty’s emphasis on inclusivity. “Inclusivity for me has always been … second nature,” Robyn ‘Rihanna’ Fenty said in the episode, looking back from her first Savage X Fenty show to the hype. “I didn’t think it would be such a talking point after the fact. The only thing I could think about was including everyone.”
To stream the show, head to Amazon Prime Video — and be sure to take notes on pieces to shop, for yourself.
