It probably would not make the news that you have your hair cut. When a star gets their hair cut, though, it’s sure to make its way to some form of news for being covetable, trend-setting, or even even surprising. But so far, 2020 has been a busy — some might say overwhelming — year, which means you might have skipped some of the shifts. But pull up a chair or re-fluff your pillow, if you don’t want to miss out on the 2020 celebrity haircuts ahead.
Although you might assume the more drastic changes have arisen since the onset of the quarantine (looking at stars like Rosalía and Ruby Rose), a decent share of celebrities have shaken it up a long way before that. Like actor Barbie Ferreira, who helped set off one of the most popular beauty styles of the year, the mullet, back in January. Even while a lot of stuff can be left in the ’80s, it must be said, with a new update, the look is pretty good. The year has also shuffled along with revivals of a variety of pixie cuts and bobs showing there’s never a bad time to do the chop.

The new year has brought many fashion changes for Cyrus and this pixie-slash-mullet is her newest venture as of mid-May. It also has short forehead and long back signature of the mullet, but now the cut is super choppy with the longest pieces reaching only at the base of her neck.

Back in March, Gomez resurrected “The Rachel” and told everyone that Friend’s cut of Jennifer Aniston was so popular in the first place. Instead of merely repeating the style in length and various face-framing textures, bangs were used in Gomez’s cut too. What stylist Marissa Marino said in The First Wives Club was influenced by Goldie Hawn.
Rose brought her signature pixie, with a buzz cut, much shorter in late April. She had a tiny braid in the front at the time, but now she’s got rid of that leaving her with only one inch of length. Duration isn’t the only news either; the actress has dyed her hair light pink and aqua à la Harley Quinn along so several other celebrities in quarantine.
Speaking of quarantine hair adventures, in late March singer Rosalía was giving herself straight-across bangs. Her previous hairstyle, though a few face-framing bits, lacked any form of bangs, so the fringe was a dramatic improvement. Hats off to her however, as she had beautifully executed the style.
Pinkett Smith returned to a shorter style in January, after exchanging her blonde pixie for blonde box braids in the summer of 2019. However, she left it a little longer on top this time around, to make her natural curls shine through. And as good as the mega-length braids felt upon her, the pixie and curls are hoping here to live a bit longer.

Because Hayden Panettiere has no Instagram, probably missed the actors big chop in February . Her regular long , blonde locks lost significant length when they were cut into a pixie by stylist Naomi Szloboda while on holidays. Although her sides had been shaved down, her top still held a decent length for styling and flipping around.

In the new year at the beginning of January Ferreira rang with one of the most unexpected popular cut in 2020: the mullet. Since Ferreira already had bangs and a bob, the stylist Sylvia Wheeler only cut a “couple xtra inches” according to her Instagram caption, but under those couple of extra inches there are layers that reach the actor’s cheek, jaw, clavicle and chest.

If you thought it was enough to color her blonde trademark tresses dark brown in autumn 2019 to save Katherine Heigl from another drastic beauty change, think again. The star trimmed her medium long hair into a real chin-length bob in February. It’s not the first time Heigl has had short hair though, which accounts for the curling look of the professional.
For a long time Jane Fonda was known for extreme length, bangs and wispy bits. And now, she still has that, just in a pixie shape. She debuted the cut — and dazzling silver shade — to an unprecedented amount of adoration and acclaim at the 2020 Oscars.

If Mendes’ short cut surprises you, so was the stylist who did so. The shaggy bob was a first for the star, according to Giannandrea, who normally keeps her hair length down at least to her shoulders. There’s no doubt that the move looks nice and suits in with what Giannandrea describes as a cut for “a chic mom and trendy designer businesswoman!”
While the cut initially arrived in February, in April Kylie Jenner officially showed off on Instagram her bob-length locks. The natural length of the makeup mogul came as a shock to many as she is in the KarJenner clan literally the queen of extensions. Although her short hair and totally “hair health journey” did not last long, it sure is worth watching.
This summer, Haddish was undergoing a huge beauty change when she decided to shave her head. The comedian wrote in a July 7 caption of an IGTV recording part of the process, “Cut my hair! I cut all my hair off cause I want to see my scalp,” in a July 7 caption of an IGTV documenting part of the process. “I know my whole body I know where every mole is but I don’t know my Scalp. So hello scalp #SheReady to everything.” Haddish went on to say in another video that it was a move she has been debating for years and that she was glad that she actually did so — so it wasn’t shocking that the incredible transition was also greeted with much enthusiasm from fans.

Middleton’s haircuts are not drastic, but they are always worth modeling, and no exception is her new switch-up. Cambridge’s Duchess unveiled caramel highlights and subtle textures covering her profile in mid-July, giving her previously chocolate-brown, one-length look a summer-ready refreshment.
