With just a few short weeks before the peak of the winter arrives, it’s fair to assume that the outerwear might be on your mind. When it comes to coat shopping, there are two camps that you need to hold in mind: the ones that go trend-forward (cue shearing coats, boisterous puffers and leather trenches) and the ones that keep it timeless. Kendall Jenner has just become an honorary member of the latter and her silhouette of choice is already growing to be a favorite. Kendall Jenner’s camel coat is an anti-trend outerwear look to try right now and it provides a convincing color tale to kick off the winter with.

The 25-year-old was seen going up the Met Steps in New York City with model friend Bella Hadid (who, sporting a crooked shearing jacket, dropped into camp number one). With the aid of her esteemed celebrity stylist, Dani Michelle, Jenner put together a smart, sly look that was primed for flying under the radar while on show. Starting at the top, she wore an inky black bucket hat, whose fuzzy finish appeared to signify the beginning of the winter in one fell swoop. Then Jenner went for an ecru-hued roll neck and a pair of black baggy jeans, both cocooned in her ankle-length felt dress. In the traditional camel shade, the simple outerwear item is from Acne Studios, and it eliminates the boxy fashion style for those who want more figure-hugging shapes.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a day in a museum with no sensible shoes—and Jenner’s Air Jordan high tops ticked the box as she was syncing with the browns in her jacket. The look was further complemented by a black patent leather shoulder bag (By Far; Jenner’s favorite), a pair of ’70s worth of tortoise sunnies (Vehla) and angular gold hoop earrings (Missoma).

Apart from being undeniably posh, what is most surprising (and also a little controversial) is Jenner’s color palette. Blacks and browns are a famously deadly mix, and Jenner effortlessly pulled it off by providing white pops as a kind of palate cleanser. Together the three work as the ultimate color tale to ease the transition from fall to winter—and you can replicate it with all the pieces below.
