Once lauded for having the most minimalist hairstyle of the entire Kar-Jenner clan — a blissfully elegant clavicle bob, who could miss it? — Kendall’s locks have triggered enough chatter after she made her Milan Fashion Week entrance look all fresh-out-of-the-shower. Her sopping-wet style was interrupted by the fact that Kendall Jenner was unexpectedly sporting her waist-length hair, obviously flowing in her blood.

The hip-grazing lengths that appeared on the Instagram model Thursday signaled the formal disappearance of the long-standing Kendall Jenner bob. After dealing with elongated locks on a regular basis over the past year or so — even offering floor-to-sweep extensions for her Garage Magazine cover in February — she appears to have at once given in to the Rapunzel aesthetics for which her family is known.

Taking after the sisters Kim, Khloé, and Kylie, the 24-year-old has grown a mile-long hair and can’t help flaunting it on her Instagram Account. Before sharing a selfie in the car, Jenner debuted her center-shaped mermaid waves in a vanity mirror, tagging Irinel de León, a hairstylist-on-the-rise and a member of the Jen Atkin army

Besides Jenner, León ‘s hair magic is also done to Hailey Bieber, Chrissy Teigen, Karlie Kloss, and fellow Kardashians.

After months of salon closures earlier this year, people were predictably anxious to rebrand their overdue summer chop for the fall, but Jenner’s extensions make a compelling argument for making the hair grow very very long. Jennifer Lopez looks like she’s on board with the notion in her new Instagram appearance, showing off some unparalleled inches by Chris Appleton (who else?).

So, as autumn lobs, French bobs, edgy mullets— Rihanna—and ’70s shag trends become exceedingly hip, ultra-long hair à la J. Lo and Jenner are an enticing option to the high-maintenance cuts recently expected for the fall. Take their lead and you’re not going to have to take the kitchen scissors to your lengths when you can’t make it to the salon.
