ICYMI: There’s a fresh Gucci bag on the market — the 1961 Jackie. Earlier this fall, the Italian fashion house reissued the famous Jackie handbag, a beloved style named after former Jackie Kennedy. It’s only been a few months since the company reintroduced the modern fashion version, but Gucci ‘s updated 1961 Jackie bag has quickly become a favorite of celebrities.
Like Kennedy, Gucci’s Jackie bag is an icon of timeless elegance. A famous style from the ’60s and ‘ 70s, the hobo bag became one of the iconic styles of the luxury label. Creative director Alessandro Michele has re-imagined the silhouette this year using the classic theme of his archive as an inspiration. Michele ‘s edition is more modern, streamlined, smaller in scale, and in a handful of playful colors. The saddlebag still has the timeless charm of the original, but it seems a little more versatile in the modern generation.
The simplicity of wearing is obvious when you look at how a handful of leading women in the entertainment industry are putting their own twist on the style. Elle Fanning opted for a chic airport theme, Jodie Turner-Smith went for a comfortable set, and Cate Blanchett put together a polished ’70s-inspired ensemble. Read on to see how the celebs made Fall’s It-bag their own, and get motivated to pursue their own look, too.
Elle Fanning gave her comfortable travel outfit — which features a camel trench coat, white pants, and black string sandals — a splash of color with a teal crossbody version of the Jackie 1961 bag.
Queen & Slim star Jodie Turner-Smith — who just played the part of Anne Boleyn in a new series — wore a white version of Gucci’s revamped signature look with a retro-inspired ensemble consisting of a long-sleeved top, a fur vest, a print-on trousers and brogues.
For a more casual approach, Amandla Stenberg gave her latest Gucci bag a dose of ’90s grunge with a black T-shirt, a pleated skirt, and black high-top sneakers. The actor completed his look with a choker and a gold watch.
