Luka Dončić is probably the best young talent we’ve seen since MJ and he hands down one of the most exciting talents to watch in the league right now. History has taught us that a lot of great athletes are superstitious, and practice rituals of pregame. Take, for example, chalk tosses from MJ and Lebron (they vary a little bit), or pull-ups from Wade on the floor, and so on. Just guess what? Dončić also has one too. And this young celebrity is finally having his first shoe release (part of the Pregame Pack) since signing with Jordan Brand last December, celebrating what happens before the clock begins.

For the longest time the sneaker world ignored AJ1 Mids. But in that assumption, we are beginning to see a change. While the Mids are controversial, when you see one, there’s no denying a great sneaker, and some colorways for example, the silhouette’s Blue the Great and Milan iterations have persuaded many of us that not all Mids are dealbreakers. One of those colorways is certainly Dončić’s take on the newly revived theme. The sneaker blends white and mint green at the top, and is dressed on the Swoosh and outsole in asymmetric accent colours. It’s clean and elegant, but it still packs the extra flavor needed to make a point. It really almost resembles Dončić’s style of playing on the court. Yet note, it’s all about pregame, and the bright colors are intended to reflect calmness and thought. To that end, each heel features a little mantra: on one hand, “Breathe & Focus” and on the other, “Focus & Breathe.”

Here’s a closer look at the AJ1 Mid “Mindfulness.”
